Emergent Learning

Anti-Racist Learning

Compa-Based Learning

We are former elementary school teachers. We loved being teachers. But we saw how fucked-up schools can be, and how fucked-up teachers can be. We co-taught a lot. We tried to practice something we called guerilla love - sneaking in love - “I see you, I hear you” - in our daily work hammering lovely, joyful kids with soul-sucking standardized assessments. Since then, we’ve thought a lot about learning.

We can rethink learning.

We can rethink teaching.

We can rethink schools.

Emergent Learning

Emergent Learning

What if schools taught the things that really matter?

Another School

Another school is possble.

Best Selves

What if schools taught us to be our best selves?

White folx: We are 400 years too late.

We have to stand against white supremacy.

We will continually fuck up, but we have to try.

Anti-Racist Learning

CORE

Cheyenne developed this overview of anti-racist education that she calls Commitment to Overcoming Racism in Education.

Rachel Ricketts

Rachel Ricketts inspires us. We summarized a few of her ideas on spiritual activism, to post beside our computers as we work.

Our Inevitable Racism

As white folx, our racism is inevitable. The issue for us is now if our racism shows up, how.

Harm Reduction

As white folx, working against our own racism is a form of harm reduction. We will inevitably cause harm. Can we lessen it?.

All Souls Echo Freely

Cheyenne is a poet as well as a scientist. She wrote this poem early in the life of Seeds of Love in Action. It still rings true..

This Is Our America

This is another of Cheyenne’s poem. The first one imagines another world; this one critiques the world as it is.

Compas = Latine Early Childhood Educators

Compa-Based Learning

We have been working with El Telar, a network of Compas (Compañeres), Latine Early Childhood Educators - both adult teachers with their own schools and a network of youth who are interested in learning more about early childhood education. We have provided some trainings for them on things we learned as elementary school teachers, but we have learned from them much more than we have taught.

We have developed a lot of materials with the Compas; we have also developed some materials for PODER Emma and a local elementary school. We provide a taste of these resources below; please contact us if you would like to learn more.

  • Domains of Development

We co-developed with El Telar’s Compas a whole series of handouts related to early childhood learning and development. This is one example.

  • Facilitation

We co-developed with PODER Emma’s network coordinators a popular education based summary of our shared learning around how to facilitate meetings.

  • Affirmation Bookmarks

We created these bookmarks with affirming messages for kids. Our teacher friends saw them, requested them, and started using them in school.

This is just a teeny taste of the resources we are developing.

If you would like to learn more, please contact us.

We are learning so much from the folx we work with and read. We are so thankful for other folx’s wisdom.
